Opel Astra

Opel Astra to auto osobowe klasy średniej niższej. Jego produkcja ruszyła w 1992 roku i trwa do dzisiaj. Opel Astra zastąpił wiekowego już Opla Kadetta. Produkcja ruszyła pełną parą w fabryce należącej do General Motors - Adam Opel AG. Opel Astra został zaprezentowany w 1991 roku we Frankfurcie na międzynarodowej wystawie samochodowej (IAA).

Prace nad tym modelem trwały długo i były jednym z największych przedsięwzięć Opla, w którym wzięło udział pond 8000 pracowników firmy. W końcu dzieło Technicznego Centrum Rozwoju Opla w Russelheim ujrzało światło dzienne.

Auto produkowane było w następujących wersjach:
- Opel Astra sedan (czterodrzwiowy w wersjach GL, GLS i CD),
- Opel Astra hatchback (pięciodrzwiowy (ze ściętym tyłem) w wersjach GL, GLS, CD, GT, GSi oraz GSi 16V),
- Opel Astra kombi (w wersjach GL oraz Club),
- Opel Astra kabriolet (od 1993 roku).

Opel Astra I (pierwszej generacji) został nazwany literą "F", nosi tez nazwę Opel Astra Classic (model ten był produkowany w gliwickiej fabryce Opla).
Opel Astra II (drugiej generacji) ma symbol "G", nosi też nazwę Opel Astra Classic II.
Opel Astra III ma symbol "H".
